Thymosin Alpha-1 is an endogenous peptide that is originally isolated from the thymus gland and consists of 28 amino acids. Due to its immune-enhancing properties, many efforts have been made for its extraction and purification. This includes extraction from Thymosin fraction 5, which was first isolated from calf thymuses.
The synthetic form of Thymosin Alpha-1, Thymalfasin, is produced in laboratories through solid-phase synthesis. On the other hand, some advancements in recombinant gene technology are also being made.
Thymosin Alpha-1 offers numerous benefits when it comes to boosting our immune system:
- Better Control Over Infections: By boosting NK cell activity, Thymosin Alpha-1 enhances our ability to fight off viral infections more effectively.
- Cancer Treatment Support: Thymosin Alpha-1’s ability to increase survival rates and reduce metastasis in cancer patients makes it a valuable addition to conventional cancer treatments.
- Improved Wound Healing: The peptide stimulates endothelial cell migration, angiogenesis, and wound healing, which can be particularly beneficial for individuals with compromised immune systems or those recovering from surgery.
Considering the numerous effects and usages of Thymosin Alpha-1, its dosage is highly based on the type of disorder it is being used for and may vary from person to person.
A standard single dosage ranges from 0.8 mg to 6.4 mg, while multiple doses range from 1.6mg to 16mg.
The recommended dosage for Hepatitis B patients is 1.6mg twice weekly for 6-12 months.
For patients with cancer, 1.6mg of Thymalfasin is administered with varying schedules for a period of six months.
