Beta-Alanine Powder
Raw Series Beta-Alanine provides 3,000 mg of pure beta-alanine per scoop. Beta-alanine is a beta-amino acid (not involved in muscle protein synthesis) and the rate-limiting factor of carnosine synthesis in the body. Carnosine is an important dipeptide—made from histidine and beta-alanine—in muscle cells that acts as a buffer in the presence of the acidic byproducts generated during intense exercise (e.g. lactic acid and hydrogen ions). Since a significant drop in muscle pH hinders further muscle contractions, supplementing with beta-alanine may help promote strength, endurance, and recovery by increasing muscle carnosine concentrations. Beta-alanine is most commonly used as a pre-workout and post-workout supplement and can be stacked with other ergogenic aids, like creatine monohydrate. Note: Large doses of beta-alanine may cause a tingling or “pins and needles” sensation in the skin. This is a harmless side effect known as paresthesia that typically lasts for 30 minutes. It’s best to split the doses into smaller portions during the first 1-2 weeks of use to reduce this effect.
How to use
As a dietary supplement, mix 1 scoop with 8-12 ounces of water. Consume 15-30 minutes before exercise. Do not exceed 1 scoop or 3,000mg in one sitting. Beta-Alanine may produce a slight flushing and/or prickly sensation which is harmless and will subside within hours of use.
